Accounts Department:
The Accounts Department of the Gujarat Technological University, Chandkheda, Ahmedabad is engaged in providing the services pertaining to Finance and maintenance of accounts to Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff / Sections / Schools/ Constitute College, affiliated colleges and recognized institutes.
It is located on the main building campus of the University. It is headed by the Chief Accounts Officer, who is assisted by a team of about 11 staff.
The Chief Accounts Officer discharges duties as mentioned in the Universities Act & regulation, and co-ordinates matters pertaining to Finance and Accounts under over all supervision of university authority adhering to laid down rules, regulations and time frame so as to contribute in enhancing the education process.

We, at the Accounts Department, are committed to rendering prompt, reliable and consistent service pertaining to Finance and Accounts for Stake holder satisfaction while abiding by statutory and regulatory requirements. We are also committed to enhance customer satisfaction through continual improvement of the online system. We follow a proactive approach and train ourselves in becoming in enhancing the education process.
Quality Objectives
• Disposal of financial document received from colleges and stake holder for processing within time limit.
• Containing Expenditure with in sanctioned Budget for every Activity and Section.
• Progressive reduction in cumulative audit objections, raised during statutory audit and AG Audit.
Activities
• Budget Preparation and implementation.
• All the receipts of the university are collected in online mode through payment gateway and SBI Collect.
• Payment of petty cash expenditure and T.A. bills of staff, all the committees and other payments are paid by E-Transfer/DBT/ Cheque.
• Account section has separate software for salary
• Every first day of the month salary deposited to bank a/c of all employees of the university
• Fully computerized cheque payment system
• All the bills for payments are monitored on computer
Account Maintenance
• University Accounts is computerized from 2008-2009 all the accounts are mentioned in tally software.
• We keep the Accounts of Income and expenditure and finalize the Annual Accounts of the University
• Various Central Government, State Government, Grant Received by the University. We keep the Accounts and Prepares Utilization Certificates and Statement of Expenditure of various grants
• Provides support to teachers / Sections for utilization of grants
• Tally ERP 9 Accounting Software is used for accounting
Resourse Mobilization
• Major funds are received from various fees collection from Student and institute
• Various fees collection modes are used by the university ( Online SBI Collect, Gate way Payment, DD/Cheque)
• Every year grant from Govt. of Gujarat for salary against approved post, minor block mentainance grant and other grant for various govt. activity are received.
• Grant from Govt. of India grant for various activity are received.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee shall consist of members as described in section 21 of the
Act. The term of office of the members shall be three years. Any vacancy in the Finance Committee occurring before the next reconstitution or before the expire of the prescribed period shall be filled in the same manner as provided in Section 21 and such a member shall hold office for the remaining period of the term of the member in whose place he is nominated.
The finance committee shall consist of the following members, namely:-
(i) The Vice-Chancellor, who shall be the Chairman of the Committee;
(ii) One member of the Board, to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor;
(iii) One Director, by rotation, to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor; and
(iv) One expert in the field of the finance, to be nominated by the Board.
Audit
University accounts are audited by Statutory Auditor.
