Vice chancellor, GTU As we begin a new academic term, I extend my warmest greetings to all our students, faculty, staff, and the entire GTU family. Each new term is an opportunity to renew our commitment to learning, discovery, and excellence. I am confident that this academic year will be one of GTU's most dynamic and transformative yet.
Gujarat and India today stand at the threshold of a transformative technological era. With the Viksit Gujarat Industrial Policy 2026 charting an ambitious roadmap for advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, deep technology, and innovation-led growth, GTU is uniquely positioned to be a catalyst for this transformation, ensuring our students graduate as future-ready contributors to India’s knowledge economy.
In keeping with this vision, GTU has created a network of Centres of Excellence in School of Engineering and Technology, focused on Immersive Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Semiconductor Design and Quantum Computing, offering students hands-on exposure to frontier technologies through structured industry partnerships. This momentum is equally reflected across our other academic domains. Our Management programmes are evolving to nurture leaders adept in Fintech, data-driven decision-making, entrepreneurship, and digital business transformation, while our Pharmacy and Biotechnology disciplines are advancing capabilities in drug discovery, biomanufacturing, genomics, and healthcare innovation — areas of growing strategic importance for Gujarat’s life sciences and pharma sector. Through our Centre of Excellence in Drug Testing and the advanced NABL-accredited laboratory facilities in Pharmacy, along with funded research initiatives in Agritech, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, AI-enabled Biological Data Analysis, and Marine Biotechnology and Blue Economy research at the School of Applied Sciences, GTU is well positioned to drive technological innovation and contribute meaningfully to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Building on the success of GTU SKILLS with university supported internships and industry-led minor & hons. models, we are deepening ties with global technology and industry leaders across these domains to keep our curricula responsive to evolving needs.
Our research and innovation ecosystem continues to flourish, with over 1000 publications in SCOPUS and WoS, 320 granted patents, and 850 GTU Ventures-supported startups generating more than 5,000 jobs in the past three years, spanning Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, and Biotechnology disciplines. Our Atal Incubation Centre, Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre, Technology Business Incubator, and Design Innovation Center support students and faculty across domains in translating ideas into impactful ventures.
Even as we embrace emerging technologies, GTU remains equally committed to reconnecting our students with the depth of India’s own technological heritage. Through the integration of Bhartiya Gyan Parampara into our mainstream curriculum, we are introducing students to the scientific temper and engineering ingenuity embedded in our indigenous principles that are applicable to modern technology.
Global engagement remains central to our mission. Through the International Experience Program and expanding collaborations with universities across Australia, Germany, Canada, France, Russia and Malaysia our students gain invaluable international exposure. The Academic Bank of Credits framework empowers flexible, personalised academic pathways including the credit transfer programs with these international universities along with IITs and IISC. GTU’s campus is a microcosm of this global spirit, hosting nearly 350 international students from 66 countries at any given time — a vibrant cross-cultural community that enriches the learning experience and reflects GTU’s growing presence in national and international collaborations.
As we step into this term, I urge our students across Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Computer Science, Architecture and Biotechnology to engage deeply with emerging domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum, Robotics, Sustainable Technologies, Biopharmaceutical Innovation, Fintech, Logistics and to explore research, internship, and entrepreneurial opportunities across the GTU ecosystem. I equally urge our faculty to continue innovating in pedagogy, mentoring students with dedication, and strengthening industry and research linkages that keep GTU at the cutting edge across every discipline.
The pace of technological change demands that we remain agile, collaborative, and forward-looking. GTU’s strength lies in the collective energy of its students, faculty, alumni, industry and research partners, and I am confident that together, we will continue to build a university that not only adapts to change but actively shapes the future of a proud Nation.
I also remind our GTU family that excellence is built through sustained, everyday effort. I encourage you to participate actively in GTU’s skill development programs, hackathons, industry interface sessions, and research symposiums, designed to sharpen your competencies for a rapidly evolving professional landscape.
